The Value of a Wooden Bench

Monday, June 29th, 2009

There are so many technological wonders in the world these days. With the iPods, the Xboxes, and all the other things they have out there, who cares about non-electronic goods anymore? Despite the advances human kind has made in the fields of science, you can never beat the feeling of relaxation on a wooden bench.

Since we are referring to value, let’s go over the prices of various wooden benches. Some benches can cost a surprisingly little amount, even though most people think of benches as costing a few hundred dollars. It all depends on the quality and type of bench that you get. The lower quality ones can cost as low as thirty dollars, but the prices can go in to the thousands if you are dealing with something of a very good nature.

Small benches with low-cost finishes are among the cheapest models. Despite not being very expensive, certain wooden benches can still be made of good quality materials. One common bench would be a Brazilian pinewood seat with a honey finish and a length of about three feet. This is a very specific example, and you can change individual qualities around to get different types of benches, but as long as you do not go past a certain level of quality, the price can still be below one hundred dollars.

You can save even more money if you choose to assemble the bench yourself. Everybody is familiar with the IKEA business model; they are able to charge such low prices because everything must be assembled by the end user. In the production process, assembly is another step that increases the final price, so if you cut out a major process in the production cycle, you slice a lot of the cost. The little bit of work it takes to assemble a wooden bench is definitely worth the great savings.

Price is an important issue when it comes to buying anything, but also remember the sentimental and physical value of a set of wooden benches. There’s something about a bench that promotes unity and total relaxation, and if you are the only one on it, you can even lie down. A bench is an easy way to sit down anywhere, and sometimes a choice more firm than a sofa or bed is desirable. Every house should own at least one bench, and whether it is outside or inside is ultimately up to the owner.
